OCCUPATIONAL  THERAPY

What does an OT do?

 

With the help of an Occupational Therapist (OT), clients can increase their ability to take care of themselves, be productive, and more fully enjoy their lives.

​

​Occupational Therapy Services focus on treatment to maximize function for the involved individual to return to normal daily activities with self-care, home management, work and leisure activities.

This is accomplished through pain control and decreasing swelling, increasing movement and strength, preventing re-injury and providing patient education.

​

  • Assists adults in learning how to carry out activities of daily living (ADLs) at home, on the job, and in the community

  • Helps the elderly adjust to the special problems of aging while remaining physically and mentally active

  • Recommends changes in layout and design to allow people with disabilities greater access and mobility

  • Teaches energy conservation and work simplification methods

  • Improves communication skills, such as reading, writing, and using the telephone

PHYSICAL THERAPY

What does a PT do?

 

  • Physical Therapy is a treatment focusing on functional movement such as standing, walking, moving different body parts.

 

  • Physical therapy can be an effective treatment for medical conditions or injuries resulting in pain, movement dysfunction limited mobility. 

​

  • Physical therapy can be both corrective and preventive.

 

  • Physical therapist can. correct functional movement imbalances while implementing techniques to prevent injury and improve performance.

SPEECH THERAPY

What does a ST do?

 

Speech therapy can help people who have difficulty speaking to communicate better and to break down the barriers that result from speech impediments. The goals of speech therapy include improving pronunciation, strengthening the muscles used in speech, and learning to speak correctly.

​

Speech therapy can be used for a lot of different speech problems and disorders, from smaller problems like a hoarse voice up to partial loss of speech due to brain damage. Depending on the type of disorder, other medical or psychological treatments may be used as well.​
